One of the things I love most about living and working in Northern Virginia is how the whole area comes alive in the spring.
The cherry blossoms burst into full bloom, families start spending more time outdoors, and our communities kick off a season packed with spring events that truly showcase the charm of the region.
Whether you’re a long-time local, a new homeowner, or even just thinking about moving to the area, I highly recommend checking out these fun, festive, and feel-good events happening this spring. From eco-friendly Earth Day festivals to small-town celebrations full of heart – there’s something for everyone.

Celebrate Earth Day in Style
Let’s start with something close to my heart – Earth Day. This is more than just a day to recycle or plant a tree (though you should definitely do both!). It’s a reminder that we’re part of something bigger – and that our beautiful region thrives when we take care of it.
🌿 Fairfax County Earth Day Festival at Sully Historic Site
This is a favorite of mine because it blends learning with fun. With live music, food trucks, eco-friendly vendors, and hands-on kid’s activities, it’s one of the most family-friendly spring events around.

🌳 Alexandria Earth Day at Braddock Park
Smaller and more community-focused, this event is perfect if you want to learn more about local sustainability efforts while also enjoying good food, performances, and creative recycling stations.
Don’t Miss These Local Spring Festivals
Of course, it wouldn’t be spring in Northern Virginia without community festivals. Here are a few of my personal favorites (and yes, I’ll probably see you there!):
🛍️ Vienna’s Spring Bazaar and Craft Show
This one is such a gem. I always come home with a cute handmade candle or two. The vendors here are amazing, and it’s such a lovely way to support local artists while enjoying live music and food.
🌼 Leesburg’s Flower & Garden Festival (April 26-27)
Even if you’re not much of a gardener, you’ll still love this one. It’s packed with flowers, garden decor, and expert-led workshops. Plus, downtown Leesburg is adorable – perfect for brunch before or after the festival.
